If you’ve taken your Open Water Scuba Diver course and are now ready to expand your knowledge but would like to see what is out there first, then the SDI Advanced Adventure Diver course is for you! The SDI Advanced Adventure course will give you an overview of five different SDI specialties. Two of the required specialties are the Deep Diver and Navigation Diver specialties which are the foundation of continuing diver education. The remaining specialty dives you can opt for include:

Boat Diver

This course is ideal for certified open water scuba divers who are eager to expand their skills and dive deeper into the world of diving safety. It’s also perfect for advanced divers aiming to progress in their diving career or anyone aspiring to become a dive leader. Prerequisites include a minimum age of 18 (or 10 with parental consent), current CPR and first aid certifications, and proof of advanced diving experience. This course sets the stage for advancing to the SDI Master Scuba Diver or Divemaster levels.

EXPLORER 30 keeps the academic side light and focuses heavily on diving! As a student in this course, you’ll embark on five thrilling dives, giving you plenty of time to enjoy every moment and practice the unique skills related to each dive. The course includes three core dives—Deep, Navigation, and Buoyancy—along with two electives from a fantastic list of over a dozen options. Each dive is crafted to build upon what you learned in RAID’s Open Water 20 course, with skills like buoyancy helping you stand out as a diver and giving you a comfort level in the water that typically takes dozens of dives to achieve for TRADITIONALLY TRAINED buddies.

In this action-packed course, you’ll focus on risk assessment and advanced buoyancy control, giving you the tools to minimize rescue situations before they happen. You’ll learn how to navigate underwater and surface emergencies like a pro, empowering you with the knowledge and skills to respond safely and efficiently up to a maximum depth of 20 meters (66 feet).

To achieve this rating, candidates must be at least 16 years old, have 50 logged hours underwater, and hold various certifications including Explorer 30, Advanced 35, Master Rescue Diver, Deep 40, Nitrox, and Navigation Diver, along with two other RAID specialties. The course involves meeting specific prerequisites, passing quizzes and exams, and having skills evaluated and signed off by a RAID Instructor.
